Easter is well on its way and most of us have eaten too much chocolate bunnies, Easter eggs and hot cross buns. But how do you deal with the aftermath of your Easter binge? How do you get back on the right track and even lose some of those extra pounds you've piled on?
It's not always easy to lose that Easter pounds and most of the times there's is so much Easter eggs left that you continue to snack on it long after Easter. That's why I've written this article to help you get over your Easter binge and maybe even to lose some weight. Here's how:
Make your meals lighter - Because you have overindulged, you now have to make up for it with your meals - it will also help you to lose some weight. Concentrate on having salads for lunch with one slice of seeded or rye bread and have lots of veggies and salads with supper.
Stay away from your scale - It's bound to make you depressed when you see you've picked up weight. The best is to don't go according to a number but to rather take your measurements regularly and go according to your centimeters not your weight.
Just be sure not to restrict your calories too much - Restricting your calories too much can lead to malnutrition and you may feel tired and cranky. It can also slow down your metabolism - making you burn fewer calories. So be sure to still get enough nutrients in!
Avoid fad diets - Fad diets will only do you harm in the long term. They slow down your metabolism - making it more difficult to lose weight in the future. Rather follow a healthy diet and stay away from fad diets
Start exercising regularly again - This is the time to slip back into your regular exercise plan. And maybe even to increase your exercise days with another day or two and also the resistance and intensity.
Be more active - Additional activity will help you to burn extra calories. Walk around more often, do your own house work and maybe even take up a new sport.
Go for a month before having another treat - Since you've had so many chocolates and Easter eggs, it's wise to refrain from any treats for a while and then re-include them on a very small basis.
Drink green tea - Green tea will help you to burn your excess fat and may even limit the amount of new fat you store.
Eat foods that keep you fuller for longer - It's wise to include foods that keep you fuller for longer as much as possible. These include low GI foods, fiber, whole-wheat products, healthy fats and lean protein.
Vow to never go overboard again - Since it is hard to recover from an Easter binge. Promise yourself that you won't binge on Easter treats next Easter and that you'll indulge but with control and restraint.
And don't worry about your Easter eating mistakes - it happens. The most important thing is that you learn from those mistakes.
