Another specie of probiotics is the Bifidobacterium Infantis. This helps in treating diarrhea in babies and lactose intolerance. It also assists in maintaining and regulating bowel movements.

Streptococcus Thermophilus is another probiotic specie that is known to help cure bowel infections and pouchitis. Pouchitis usually happens after an ulcerative colitis surgery.

Lactobacillis casei are strains that can cure bacterial infections and assist the body to have a stronger immune system. They also help the body guard itself from various diseases.

To help probiotics grow, prebiotics is necessary. These are non-living and non-digestible substances that are considered the food of probiotics. Prebiotics can be found in wheat, oats, honey, banana, tomatoes, leeks, grains, asparagus, garlic, onions and artichokes.

It is better to first supply the body with prebiotics so as to strengthen and multiply the existing probiotics in the intestines.
